Full Stop

To the light, I draw nearer

And draw a comfort in closeness

In reaching my destination.

I am tired and have grown weary

Of this journey and wish to

Satisfy my thirst and rest my

Exhausted body, succumbing to

A deep slumber.

As the end is in sight,

I visualise the road behind me

With flickering stops beside it

Like pensive punctuation marks.

I am reminded of times gone by

And know that all is Past

And my future is nothing.

It is time to sleep.

About Kate Goodman

Originally from Croydon, I have settled in Halesowen in the West Midlands with my husband and much-longed for son. We also have a cat, Murphy, who delights in bringing me live mice, frogs and birds. Lucky me. I have written all my life. There have been peaks and troughs, highs and lows, but the written word always calls me back. I hope you enjoy my work.
